Our Story
Hi! Thanks for stopping by to hear our story!
We started working on the concept of Wildwood Urban Lumber way back in 2016. Back then we were just a couple of people with a whole lot of logs from William’s business as an ISA certified arborist, a sawmill, and a dream to make something out of it all.
We started the Wildwood Urban Lumber LLC in 2017 with the hope of eventually recycling those logs into household items and building materials, and making them available to those looking for unique and sustainable lumber. Over time our vision grew and evolved. We purchased our building in Ronceverte and spent several years just talking about all of the ideas we had. Finally, in 2025 , we decided to buckle down and make our dreams a reality. We began renovating the space and incorporating our local recycled lumber at every turn. Our countertops, trim and tables are all products of trees gone but not forgotten from the Greenbrier Valley.
The vision continued to grow and plans continued to evolve. Initially we planned to develop the space solely as a showroom for local and regional artists, lumber, and our own creative ventures, but along the way, we also got the message that the town needed a third space. We wanted to create a place where old friends could congregate, new friends could meet, and everyone could have a coffee and a snack .
So we decided to really go for it. We opened up a wall to the space next door, bought an expresso machine from Australia, read a couple of books, completed a HUGE list of other necessary details…. and the cafe portion of our space was born.
It’s been a real adventure to say the least! We’ve learned a lot already , and we are still learning every day. We will continue to evolve and grow in the next few years and we are ever listening to understand how we can better serve our community.
We’re pretty proud of what we are building here. We hope it outgrows us, outlasts us, and sparks more creative and enriching ventures in the town of Ronceverte as well as the broader community.
